[ Yu feels Yosuke let go, and sighs when he does. He's got his face mostly hidden against Yosuke's neck, which lets him tell himself he absolutely did not catch sight of Yosuke running fingers through his come as it drifted in the water between them. Absolutely not. Because as staunch as he might be in the face of just about everything, his boyfriend curiously playing with his come like that might actually be enough to kill him.
So he didn't see that at all. And he won't think about it again and again, getting flustered at completely random moments and needing to excuse himself to cool off.
When Yosuke bumps into his head, Yu hums in a way that's almost a laugh and pulls his arms back. Carefully, he tucks himself back into boxers and shorts, getting his clothes more or less back in place. He wraps his arms loosely around Yosuke's waist just in time to look up and smile, his expression slightly sheepish. ]
No, not sorry at all. He's just curious about...all aspects of Yu.
Yosuke gives him a little space to rearrange himself--he probably shouldn't be watching but, again, he's curious to how all of Yu fits together. There's not a bit of resistance when Yu embraces him again and Yosuke mirrors the motion on Yu's shoulders, letting his arms hang loosely around them.
He just smiles, pleased and a little proud. ]
Yeah?
[ Definitely proud. He likes hearing he's done a good job if he isn't sure he always deserves it. This time, though, he's grinning. To Yu's comment, though, Yosuke huffs, pushing some water between them. ]
[ It's different, embracing like this. The water supports his body, and he finds that his legs bend slightly at the knee no matter what he does. In a way, it's a mirror of the curl of Yosuke's tail. It's both easier and harder at once to hang on, like gravity has been canceled - well though he knows it really hasn't been. Floating like this, even in Yosuke's arms, he feels... weightless. Unanchored.
It's both nice, and ... strange.
Yu tries not to think too much about it, about what gravity on land both adds and takes away. He focuses instead on Yosuke's voice, the pride in it making the back of his neck heat up. His eyes search Yosuke's face when space and water rush back in between them, and without thinking, Yu lifts his hands to cup Yosuke's cheeks.
Trying to convey the depth of his feelings was what got them into that mess in the first place. He can't help it, though. The warm, happy way Yosuke is looking at him, Yosuke's arms around him, what they just did together... ]
... the moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?
[ His heart is pounding in his chest. It's evening by now, and they might be able to see the moon if they breached the water's surface. All in all, it's a reference Yosuke likely won't be able to understand. But he can't say much more, for now. Someday, he thinks. ]
[ This is how it's supposed to be, he thinks. He feels a lot heavier on land, he can't move as easily, but if that's where Yu is then he'll go. It's nice having Yu in here with him, in his world where he feels more comfortable. He doesn't have to worry about people seeing him or drying out, instead he can just focus on the boy in front of him and how wonderful it feels to have him close.
Why would Yu even think there's a favor to return?
He's still somehow swept off his feet--er, fins with Yu's sudden move for romance. Yosuke blinks, feeling his face heating up at the touch and the look in Yu's eyes. Strange that Yu would say that of all things, considering Yosuke's always found him reminiscent of the moon. Calm, constant, silvery and soothing. ]
Yeah...it is.
[ He agrees, his own hands moving to hold onto Yu's forearms. Of course, he's not exactly talking about the moon. ]
[ Equal footing - so to speak. Equal ground. That's the nicest part about being here in the water. They're both comfortable, able to move freely in ways both metaphorical and literal. Somehow, he has a powerful feeling that making things equal between them - it's important, being even in this way. They've been so unbalanced from the start. Like this, for now... they feel a little bit less far apart.
Hands find his forearms, and Yosuke is -- he's blushing, and Yu sucks in a little breath at what he says. Could... he possibly mean--?
No, there's no way. Is there? But then... what else could he mean?
Slightly flustered, Yu swallows past the sudden sharp, not at all unpleasant twist in his gut and simply leans in. The way he kisses Yosuke is without hunger, but it's still deep, lingering.
You're special to me, is what his heart sighs, and maybe next time he'll say it out loud. If they're lucky, there will be many more next times. ]
[ It is extremely important. There's still more they have to learn about each other, things that Yosuke knows he'll have to admit to at some point, but it's nice to think that just for a little while they can be the same, in the same place, even with all their differences. It is strange that out of all the people he's met, it's Yu that Yosuke has become the most comfortable with. Despite them being two different beings, Yu is somehow so much easier to connect to than the merpeople he's grown up with.
If he could bathe in moonlight forever, he would.
Yosuke returns the kiss, allowing his eyes to fall shut. His lips move them gently into another as his hands slide back up Yu's arms to his shoulders. If they can look forward to more of this in their future, maybe they can make this work a little longer. ]

Yosuke, you... that was incredible.
[ Somewhat shyly, he pecks Yosuke's lips. ]
I just wish I could return the favor, somehow.

Don't say things like that, man. I'm happy.
