[ It happens very quickly. He heard it before he saw it, and couldn't even turn in time before there was simply an almighty crash, and instincts made him duck. The door to the grocery store hadn't even had time to slide closed before a body slammed into it, the great crack of shattering glass like a gunshot. Yu couldn't help but cry out and drop his bags, at once covering his head and yet trying to see what happened.
A man -- a man lay in the wreckage of what had once been a shelf inside the store, unmoving. Training seized his limbs, and Yu moved without thinking, shooting glances at the street as he carefully made his way over. ]
Sir? Sir! Can you hear me?
[ At least when the ambulances arrived they let him come along. It was to his hospital, anyway. He'd only just gotten off shift.
No one tried to send him home. Not with a street full of people flooding into the ER. Most injuries were minor, but it was chaos for a while. The man from the grocery store was one of the only ones who got a bed.
And Yu tended to him, because everyone else was busy, though once the man was stable he'd had to rush away. Only now does he make it back, and somewhat despite himself, relief surges through him to see that he's awake. The chart said his name was ... Yosuke Hanamura. ]
Hi there. I'm your nurse, Yu Narukami. How are you feeling?
So what else is new? As if trying to be the Hero This City Needs isn't hard enough, his good ol' bout of bad luck had to come in and mess that up. He thought he had this one in the bag, though. Yosuke had put in some decent training after school, feeling slightly more in control of his abilities.
And...yet...
He remembers getting tossed and a lot of pain. That should probably be normal by now. But waking up in a hospital bed? Not really.
Yosuke grumbles and frowns, brows twitching as he comes to. He's got one hell of a headache which doesn't help with the light, but he hears an unfamiliar voice next to him. ]
Mmrt...what?
[ He squints, turning to look to the side despite the strain on his neck. ]
...Just peachy. Y'know, like I got hit by a truck. Of peaches.
[ At least his humor is intact. He reaches up to rub his head. ]
[ Yu has to bite back a laugh at that quip, though he can't keep the smile off his face. ]
Luckily, your injuries aren't as bad as you probably feel. You'll be sore for a while, but the doctor says you should recover just fine. We'll be keeping you for observation for a while, but you should be free to go tomorrow if no other complications develop.
[ Stepping closer to the bed to check some monitors, Yu pauses a moment before he answers that question. It's ... not entirely professional, but: ]
Actually, I was nearby. [ understatement. ] I saw what happened and called an ambulance for you. [ glances at him, then away, at the monitors again. gently: ] I'm glad you're alright.
